Competence Centre for Highly Educated Immigrants

During your 10-month period as a client at the Competence Centre for Highly Educated Immigrants, you will develop an understanding of your potential and strengths in the Finnish labour market, be offered options for developing your skills and competences, and suggestions for coaching and further education.

You will also get help with job seeking independently and in group mentoring sessions, advice from business coordinators on extending your networks, and personalised invitations to events and programmes.

Our clients have access to:  

• Individual support in career counselling and job hunting 
• Workshops 
• Wellness groups, recruitment and networking events 
• A monthly newsletter with events, workshops and job postings 
• If necessary, your career counsellor can refer you to services to develop your skills, such as: Finnish and Swedish language courses, ICT skills courses, labour market orientation, official competence recognition and further development.

You can apply to the Competence Centre if you:

• are an immigrant
• live in Espoo
• are registered as an unemployed jobseeker or a part-time working jobseeker
• have at least a bachelor’s degree
• have either relevant expert-level work experience or your degree is less than five years old
• have good language skills:
  • Finnish or Swedish (at least level B1.1), OR
  • fluent English (only if your field is IT Business, Engineering and R&D fields)
• are looking for full-time employment.
