The effects of JHL's strike on Espoo Catering's meal services
Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL has notified Espoo Catering of a political industrial action. The reason for the industrial action is the Finnish government's proposals to weaken working life. The industrial action is not aimed at Espoo Catering as an employer.
The strike will last 24 hours and will take place on Wednesday 22 November 2023.
Espoo Catering Oy is responsible for the majority of catering services for schools and kindergartens in the city of Espoo. The strike will affect these services on Wednesday 22 November 2023.
Kindergartens and schools offer a cold snack-type lunch instead of a hot lunch. The lack of personnel also affects the fact that the safety of special diets cannot be guaranteed. We ask guardians to reserve snacks that can be kept in room temperature for children who follow a special diet.
The lunch restaurants of Tapiola Health Center and the Central Fire Station in Kilo are closed. Other meal services of the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County operate normally.
The staff restaurant of Espoo City Council Building is closed.
We apologize for the situation. A hot lunch is available again on Thursday 23 November 2023.
