Use WorkPilots job platform service to offer work to young people
Give a young person a temporary job – You find help for short-term jobs and your unfinished tasks get completed.
How does the job platform work
Offering 14–29-year-old young people temporary jobs is a great opportunity to give the young people in Espoo their first work experience. At the same time, you can easily and free of charge get someone to perform temporary jobs that do not require special professional skill. In addition to the city’s units, Espoo associations and organisations can also offer temporary jobs.
- No costs are created for the party offering the temporary job.
- A temporary job does not mean employing the young person performing it.
- The young people are paid €10 per work hour.
- The minimum length for the jobs is two hours, the maximum is two weeks.
To be noted
- The purpose of the job platform is to facilitate young peoples’ first work experiences. You should primarily select young people with no previous experience in temporary jobs.
- We also want as many young people as possible to gain work experience, therefore, we recommend hiring two young persons for 10 hours instead of hiring one person for 20 hours.
- When selecting the young worker, ensure that they are an Espoo resident aged 14–29 (preferably aged 14–17, if possible).
- The service may not be used to hire people for City of Espoo duties usually performed by a person provided by Seure. Furthermore, the purpose of the temporary jobs is not to replace the Summer Job Voucher.
- One young person may perform a temporary job for a maximum period of two weeks. For example, the job database cannot be used to hire repeatedly the same young person to the position of a camp or club counsellor for a period of over two weeks.
- When planning the temporary job, please note that the working hours observe the Young Workers’ Act(external link, opens in a new window).
How to offer a temporary job to a young person
The jobs are assigned through the Workpilots service, this is how to use it:
1.Download the free application to your phone via Google Play or AppStore or use the browser version.
2. Select ‘Register’.
3. Make a joint profile for your team. You can do this both online and via the application. We recommend using a joint email address – if you do not have one, you can use the email address of an individual.
4. After this, send an email to ohjaamotalo@espoo.fi, in which you indicate the account you have created and which job is relevant to it.Include in your email an estimate of how many hours of temporary work you are going to offer to young people, this helps us give your user account the correct amount of Pilotpoints. If you do not have points, you cannot offer work.
5. Create a new order and, after receiving applications, select the applicant suitable for the task. An example job advertisement is available below the video – remember to emphasise that the temporary job is for young Espoo residents (you can set age limits if necessary, as long as they are between the ages 14–29).
Note! Any technical issues: contact the Workpilots support(external link, opens in a new window).

Tips for using the service:
- Even if the work would be performed remotely, do not select the remote work option – selecting it makes the job visible nationally. Write in the job description that the work will be performed remotely.
- If you want to keep the position open even after selecting the worker (when choosing the employees, select that you want to choose more employees) until, for example, all workers chosen have truly started their work, you should write in the additional information the following: “Workers have already been selected for this job, but the position remains open in case there are last-minute changes”. You must remove the job afterwards by cancelling the job manually – an open job is not removed automatically. Removing the job does not remove the duties of the young people chosen.
- At the moment, it is not possible to get more accurate age information about applicants over the age of 18. If you are looking for a worker of particular age, ask the young person for their age via a chat message.
