The Garden of Love

The Garden of Love is the city's ecological and communal alternative to love locks on bridges. In the Garden of Love, you can plant a fruit tree as a symbol of your love. At the same time, the tree represents your love for nature. We hope that lovers are especially inspired, but you are free to plant your tree as a symbol of any kind of love. By planting a tree, you can also celebrate friendship or your love for your child, parent, or grandparent.

The Garden of Love was founded on 19 May 2017 in Storhemtinpuisto Park, north of Hentebynkatu, in the Suurpelto district. There are currently about 200 fruit trees in the area. The idea is to create a communal environment, where everyone takes care of their love tree by themselves or in cooperation with others. You can, for example, agree to take turns watering the trees.

You are free to arrange events related to the themes of love and gardening without specific permission. The fruit trees should be carefully protected from deer and rabbits. The City of Espoo does not plant or take care of the trees, but we cut the grass in the area a few times a year.
