Traffic arrangements in Espoon keskus
Construction projects in Espoon keskus will affect traffic arrangements in the area for several years. Ongoing projects in the area include the construction of new commercial premises and a public transport terminal, as well as railway works related to the Espoo Rail Line project.
Espoon keskus will undergo a major transformation in the coming years. Construction work related to the Espoo Rail Line project has been visible in the area for several years already, and the construction is expected to continue until 2027. At the same time, the City of Espoo is building a new public transport terminal between the railway tracks and the Espoontori shopping centre. The terminal will have nine covered departure platforms, six arrival platforms and five bus drop-off/pick-up areas. Buses will return to their former location between the Espoontori block and the railway tracks when the new public transport terminal is completed in 2028.
Commercial projects in the area are also progressing. HOK-Elanto is building a new Prisma centre next to the Entresse shopping centre, with construction scheduled for completion during 2028. On the other side of Siltakatu, Kesko is building a new Citymarket and is also renovating Espoontori. The shopping centre is currently closed, and Kesko estimates that the project will be completed in 2028.
The City of Espoo also has its own projects underway in the area. The water supply and sewerage works between Asemakuja and Siltakatu and between Kirkkojärventie and Pappilantie are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Construction works affect traffic
Simultaneous construction works related to different projects will have a wide impact on the traffic arrangements in the area. The City of Espoo has published a map on its website showing the ongoing construction works and up-to-date information on traffic arrangements. The map will be updated as the works progress.
In addition to the map showing traffic arrangements, traffic is also guided by signs in the area.
