Street maintenance, situation on 20 March 2024
Spring is just around the corner. Soon, we will start removing grit from streets. However, night frosts may delay the process. In some areas, small-scale grit removal has already started.
Vehicle traffic raises irritating street dust into the air from dry road surfaces, which is why we usually begin the street cleaning process by removing grit from bus routes. The occasional freezing of road surfaces at night delays grit removal from pedestrian and cycling routes in particular, as these still need grit to prevent slipperiness. Mild sub-zero temperatures are still expected some nights and mornings.
According to the weather forecast for the next few days, we can expect above-zero temperatures, rain, snow and sleet. No flood warnings have been issued. However, rain and meltwater may cause water issues in some areas. Our street maintenance crew is prepared for these situations.
The changeable weather is still causing cracks in the asphalt and potholes in gravel roads. We are fixing these around the city.
Feedback on maintenance
Our customer service works closely with maintenance staff and informs them about the feedback received.
We ask you to send your feedback directly through the city’s online feedback system(external link, opens in a new window). Both our feedback and telephone services are quite busy from time to time, and waiting times may be long.
If you can, also send us a photo of the site in question. Based on the photo, we will be able to assess the urgency of the situation, which will accelerate the processing of your feedback.
Trimble Feedback mobile app
You can also give location-based feedback through the Trimble Feedback mobile application(external link, opens in a new window). It is a quick way to send a message to customer service, for example concerning a need for maintenance. We go through all mobile feedback and forward it to experts who will take the necessary measures.
