Report household pests

If you find pests in your home, you must immediately inform the property owner or manager. The property owner is responsible for ensuring that there are no pests in residential buildings or their structures.

The City of Espoo and Espoo Region Environmental Health Services do not offer pest control services. Basic products, such as ant killer spray, are available at hardware stores. For more extensive pest control, you should contact a private pest control company.

Bedbugs

If you find bedbugs in your home, it is important to react quickly to prevent them from spreading and reproducing. Here are some things you should do first:

  • wash your clothes and bedding at a high temperature (at least 60 degrees Celsius) and
  • check your mattresses and bed structures for bedbugs.

It can be difficult to get rid of bedbugs, so it is often necessary to have a pest control company assess the situation and take the required control measures. Inform the property owner of the bedbugs without delay.
