An application for an exemption permit was submitted for the Tiistinlaakso (311802) regarding the protection of the flying squirrel. The purpose of the Tiistilänraitti plan amendment was to improve the east-west routes of the flying squirrel due to the diminishing thereof in the Tiistinlaakso plan area. As the ELY Centre found that the conditions to grant an exemption permit for Tiistinlaakso did not exist, and because the plan amendment is no longer justified, the Tiistilänraitti plan amendment is no longer necessary.

Background information

Tiistilänraitti is an important travel route for flying squirrels between their habitats. The plan amendment is related to the detailed planning of Tiistinlaakso (311802). The Uusimaa ELY Centre has granted an exemption permit for the protection of flying squirrels for the detailed planning of Tiistinlaakso. When granting the permit, the ELY Centre required mitigation actions to secure the east-west travel routes of the flying squirrels and ensure their preservation. For this reason, the flying squirrel route along Tiistilänraitti is to be protected in the plan.
