Planning of Sotilastorpankenttä playground
ParksLeppävaaraThe City of Espoo has started planning a new playground in Uusmäki in the Sotilastorpankenttä and Sotilastorpanpuisto park areas, east of the current sports field. The project is based on Espoo’s playground programme 2026–2036.
Phase
Design
The playground will replace the existing beach volleyball court and will also be extended northwards towards the forest area. The playground cannot be placed entirely within the forest, as the area serves as a movement corridor for flying squirrels. Trees will also be preserved in the playground area to ensure that the flying squirrel corridor is not disrupted by the construction of the playground. New planting areas will also be planned to provide shade and to make the playground more appealing.
The planning process will begin with a survey (in Finnish) to gather residents’ wishes for the playground. The survey will be open from 26th of October to 8th of November 2026 and a link to the survey will be added to this site.
After the survey, the construction plan for the playground will be finalised, taking into account the feedback received. Interested parties will be informed of the decision.
The plan should be completed by the end of 2026, and the construction will be carried out in the next few years.
