Local detailed plansTapiolaA new residential area is being planned for Kivimies in Otaniemi. At the same time, the area’s service offering will be developed. The aim of the city is to develop the southern part of Otaniemi into a residential area served by a light rail line. The construction will match the existing environment, and the cultural, historical and natural values of the environment will be taken into account in the planning. The plan was returned to the preparation stage on 5 December 2023. The plan proposal is estimated to be available for public review in spring 2026.

15.11.2023 New residential area to bring blocks of flats, parks and brick-and-mortar businesses to Otaniemi
Background
The goal is to design a new residential area for about 1,200 residents in the southern part of Otaniemi. The residential area relies on Jokeri Light Rail, which runs along Otaniementie, and the Keilaniemi underground parking facility. The construction will match the existing environment, and the cultural, historical and natural values of the environment will be taken into account in the planning. The plan’s participation and assessment scheme was available for public review as part of the amendment to the 220209 Kivimies detailed plan. After that, the area was separated into another plan.
