Korpikallio

Streets and trafficEspoonlahti

The City of Espoo’s Public Works Department is planning a street called Korpikallio between Ylätie and Korpikuja. The aim is to renovate the roadway, plan a pedestrian and bicycle lane still missing from the street section, improve the drainage of the area by storm water drainage and renovate the water main line of HSY Vesihuolto running under the street. The lighting of the street will also be replaced.

There is a confirmed street plan for Korpikallio from 1991, and the new plan is based on it. According to the current plan, the new pedestrian and bicycle path will be located on the eastern side of the street, and it will be approximately 3 metres wide. The roadway is 5 m wide and a kerb is being planned for it. The current lateral ditches will be removed. The construction of a storm water drain obliges nearby properties to connect to the storm water drain in accordance with the Water Services Act. Click this link to learn more about the matter.

A walk to inspect the site of the plan was held on Tuesday 13 September from 17.30 to 19.00. The participants gathered at the intersection of Korpikallio and Ylätie. A memo of the meeting is attached here.

Since the design work will be based on an existing street plan, an approval procedure under the Land Use and Building Act will not take place. Instead, draft plans will be made publicly available and people can comment on them in the Otakantaa service. Based on the comments received, the plans can still be adjusted.

The draft can be commented on at https://www.otakantaa.fi/fi/hankkeet/1017/ (external link, opens in a new window)until 12 May 2024.

The timing of the work to be done on the street will be specified later.

The street was originally intended to be built in summer 2024, but it will actually be implemented as part of the Kotikadut kuntoon programme in the 2030s.
