Improvement of traffic safety at Maasillantie and Harmaaniityntie intersections on Kauklahdenväylä

Streets and trafficKauklahti

The City of Espoo is planning to make basic improvements to the safety of pedestrian and bicycle traffic at the intersections of Maasillantie and Harmaaniityntie on Kauklahdenväylä by converting them into intersections controlled by traffic lights and by adding an island to the pedestrian crossing across Kauklahdenväylä at the Harmaaniitty intersection.

Location

Kauklahdenväylä, Maasillantie, Harmaaniityntie

Phase

Design

The current Maasillantie intersection will be converted into a traffic light-controlled one. Turning from Maasillantie will be channelised to enable turning traffic to flow more smoothly at the intersection.

The Harmaaniityntie intersection will be converted into a traffic light-controlled one. A new pedestrian crossing with an island will be built across Kauklahdenväylä, creating a continuous connection to the pedestrian and bicycle path on the other side of Kauklahdenväylä. The Harmaaniityntie pedestrian crossing will have separate, clearly marked lanes for cyclists and pedestrians.

The measures will be implemented in autumn 2026.
