Iivisniemenpuisto and Iivisniemenpelto, park plan

ParksEspoonlahti

Espoo’s Public Works Department has drawn up a park plan for Iivisniemenpuisto and Iivisniemenpelto.

The aim is to improve the functionality and landscaping of the playgrounds and park. The leisure areas and playgrounds in the Iivisniemenpuisto park will be refurbished and plants and materials replaced. Playground equipment will be replaced, and younger and older children will have their own play areas in the park. The Iivisniemenpelto playground will be removed, and the area will be landscaped to blend in with the surroundings.

Iivisniemenpuisto was designed in the 1960s by landscape architects Jussi Jännes and Maj-Lis Rosenbröijer. The original idea of the park has been preserved, but the vegetation and structures have deteriorated.

The plan is based on the Iivisniemi-Kaitaa concept plan prepared in 2023.

Draft plan presentation

The draft plan was available for public comment on the Otakantaa.fi website(external link, opens in a new window) between 13 and 26 May 2024.

Schedule

The preparation of the park plan started with the gathering of background information in spring 2024. After the draft phase, the plan will be finalised and it is expected to be completed in autumn 2024.

The construction schedule is not yet known.
