Project description
The worksite is located on the east side of the Mankinjoki stream. The location was formerly part of the historic Mankby village area. Any historical findings during the construction project may impact the completion time.
The dog enclosure will be 2,937 m2 in size, and it will be divided into sections for small dogs and large dogs. The old surface soil will be removed and the surface structures will be updated. The ground in the enclosures will be covered in aggregate, rock dust and lawn. Limited planting areas will be built in the enclosures and trees and bushes will be planted in them. Rocks and tree trunks will be installed to provide stimuli to dogs. These will be partially embedded in the ground to improve safety. The waste containers in the enclosures will be deep collection containers. Dog walkers can rest on the benches to be installed in the enclosures.
New lighting will be installed in the dog park and the walkway leading to it.
After the construction has ended, the enclosures will be kept locked for 2–3 months so that the grass gets to grow. The dog enclosure will be open for use once the grass is strong enough to endure being trampled on.
At the location of the park walkway, kerbstones will be removed from the parking area delineated by the park to improve accessibility. The parking area is about 80 metres from the dog park.
The contract will be carried out respecting the natural values of the area. Special attention will be paid to aspects such as the processing of stormwater and clayey soil during the work. A partially biofiltering surface water depression and green area depression will be constructed around the dog enclosure.
The gates in the fence will be affixed with piles. Particularly the piling work involved in preparing the gate foundations will cause some noise in the area.
