Eloisa Espoo invites citizens to participate for the local nature
Eloisa Espoo is a project that aims to increase the greenness, comfort and beauty of urban and natural spaces throughout Espoo with the participation of residents. The project will produce experiential environmental events, art, nature activities and information during 2024 and 2025.
Implementation and objectives
Eloisa Espoo is implemented by the cultural cooperative Ziran, in close cooperation with the various departments of the City of Espoo. The aim is to carry out meadow restoration and establishment measures, tree planting and possible afforestation projects in the Espoo area. At the same time, these green actions will be part of Espoo's climate change actions. In line with the wishes of the Council, the use of the budget will be planned in cooperation with the cross-governmental developmental programmes Sustainable Espoo and Events Together in Espoo.
Through volunteer-driven events, planned and implemented through the Action Programme, it will also increase the ownership of local nature by Espoo residents, improve the amenity and resilience of green spaces in the face of climate change, and engage Espoo residents in maintaining their neighbourhoods.

The basis of the project
The Vibrant Espoo action programme was launched when Espoo City Council granted an allocation for the planting of trees, shrubs and other plants and the establishment of meadows for the period 2023-2025. According to the Council's policy, the allocation should be used "in a multifaceted cooperation with the city, residents, organisations, educational institutions and businesses in line with the Espoo story".
