Next Stage is aimed at musicians and performers aged between 18 and 26. Both bands with multiple members and solo artists may participate, provided they have not released an album or do not have a recording contract with a major record label. All band members must be in the specified age range.
Both bands and artists with a backing track / DJ can participate in the showcase, but the event is meant for presenting your own music. In this context, cover songs arranged as your own artistic interpretations are also accepted. The music style or composition is not limited, but please consider the technical framework of live events and short exchange times between performers (10 minutes).
The semi-finals and the final offer a moderate backline that performers can use (more detailed list here - link), as well as sound and lighting technicians on behalf of the venue (bringing your own technicians is not allowed).
There is an open application process for the event via the webropol form, on 9-22 February 2026. Attach an audio sample of your music (one song) to the form. A preliminary panel consisting of professionals in the field will review the applications, and performers selected for the live stage will be notified by 9 March, at the latest.
The semi-finals will be held on Wednesday 1 April at 18:00 and on Tuesday 14 April at 18:00 at Espoo Cultural Centre, as well as on Thursday 2 April at Kannusali. Based on the preliminary round, 5 performers are selected for each semi-final, and the panel selects one performer from each semi-final to the final. In the semi-finals, each performer may perform 3 songs (max. 15 min).
From each semi-final, one performer selected by the professional panel will move on to the final. The final will be held in Sello Hall (Sellosali), Leppävaara, on Saturday 23 May at 18:00. In the final, each performer is given 20 minutes for their performance.
