Changes to traffic arrangements in Hepokorpi
The recreational route connecting Pellaksenmäki and the Oittaa network, as well as the parallel ski track in Hepokorpi, have been completed. The pedestrian and cycling path running alongside Ring Road III has also been reopened.
The route between Pellaksenmäentie and the Oittaa network, opened on 8 September, starts at the Hepokorvenportti underpass beneath Ring Road III and connects to the previously built Oittaa network. The new route is illuminated and will be maintained during winter.
As part of the same project, flying squirrel crossing poles were installed in the overhead power line area, and the underpass was renovated.
The new route crosses Microsoft’s construction site traffic route on Hepokorvenkaari and in the power line right-of-way in the park area. Temporary traffic arrangements will remain in place for about two years, during which time construction site traffic will be required to give way. Hepokorvenkaari will remain in permanent use even after construction.
Pedestrian and cycling path reopened
The pedestrian and cycling path running alongside Ring Road III, from the Hepokorvenportti underpass to Kylänportti, was reopened to pedestrians and cyclists on September. In exceptional circumstances, the route will also serve as an alternative access route for data centre traffic. Under normal circumstances, the alternative route will not be used by motor vehicles. All construction site traffic to the data centre plots will continue to use Hepokorventie and Hepokorvenkaari.
