Age limit for borrowing laptops in Espoo libraries from 1 September 2026
Espoo libraries will introduce a minimum age of 15 for borrowing laptops from the beginning of September. The change applies to laptops borrowed from both laptop lockers and service desks.
Starting 1 September, customers under the age of 15 will no longer be able to borrow laptops from library laptop lockers or service desks. The change applies only to laptops. The borrowing of other devices and items available in the laptop lockers will continue as normal.
The aim of the age limit is to support families in making decisions about screen time and to take account of recommendations related to the digital wellbeing of children and young people. The change also reflects THL’s digital wellbeing recommendations(external link, opens in a new window), which are intended to promote the wellbeing of children and young people.
Customers under the age of 15 can continue to use computers in the library on public computers located in the children’s and young people’s sections under staff guidance and supervision.
