Espoo offers a variety of wonderful trails for mountain biking.

Here are some of Espoo's mountain biking routes waiting for you to explore:

  • The mountain biking trail in Espoo Central Park is about 2.4 km long and features challenging sections in varied terrain.
  • The mountain biking trail built alongside the Oittaa ski tracks/fitness trail is 2.5 km long, and in addition to typical Finnish forest landscape, it is also characterised by undulating single track sections, gravelled paths and rocky terrain.
  • The Route 2000(external link, opens in a new window) (information in Finnish) running through four municipalities has a length of 110 kilometres and it is known as the jewel of mountain biking in the capital region.
  • The R2 route (length about 12 km) between Oittaa and Pirttimäki and running on paths and outdoor trails is the latest addition to the mountain biking routes in Espoo.

Mountain biker’s checklist for nature in Espoo

  • Always use marked trails or existing paths.
  • Check the rules of the trails in the area in advance. For example, mountain biking is often prohibited in nature reserves.
  • Avoid damaging the terrain by riding correctly. Avoid locking your brakes and riding in areas that are susceptible to wear, even if someone has ridden in the area before you. If necessary, walk your bicycle past swampy path sections, for example.
  • Consider others who are out and about in nature. Indicate your approach with a bell and give way if necessary. Do not litter.
