Construction of the Suurpelto cricket field will start in July 2026

Construction of the new cricket field in Suurpelto will begin in July 2026 at Sanakatu. In the first phase, the field area will be built and fenced. The cricket field will have a rock dust surface. Changing rooms, toilets and a practice section surrounded by nets will also be built in the area in spring 2027. Traffic arrangements in the area may be temporarily affected by the construction work.

The aim is to complete the work on the Suurpelto cricket field and its ancillary facilities during the summer of 2027. The field will provide an excellent addition to the City of Espoo’s network of sports facilities and it will offer better opportunities for playing cricket, for cricket practise as well as for competitions. 

Cricket is an increasingly popular sport in Espoo and the Suurpelto field marks a significant step in improving cricket facilities in the city. The project supports the objectives of the City of Espoo to promote opportunities for physical activities, enhance equality and encourage different population groups to engage in sports and physical activities.
