Tiia Mäkiranta appointed as Espoo’s Director of Corporate Services

Tiia Mäkiranta, M.Sc. (Econ.), has been appointed as the City of Espoo’s Director of Corporate Services.

Mäkiranta has worked as Director of Customer Service and Communication in the City of Helsinki’s Department of Financial Management Services (Talpa) since 2023. She has previously worked as the co-founder and COO of MOST Digital Oy, as Head of Services at Kunnan Taitoa Oy, and in various service process development roles at Tieto Oyj.

“The Director of Corporate Services must have a sufficient understanding of financial, HR, data-driven management and ICT issues and our various other internal processes. The role also requires courage and strong change management skills. Tiia has a proven track record in carrying out challenging projects within companies and public sector organisations. We received many good applications. Among all the applicants, I believe that Tiia is best suited to help us tackle the challenges ahead,” says Mayor Kai Mykkänen.

The Director of Corporate Services manages and develops the Mayor’s Office and its responsibilities and is in charge of the development of the city’s support services as a whole. The Director of Corporate Services also serves as the supervisor for the directors of the Mayor’s Office units. The Mayor’s Office comprises the following units: Administration and Legal Matters, HR, Financing and Economy, Strategic Development and Knowledge Management, and Advocacy and Objectives.

“I applied for the job as I was excited about the opportunity to work for my home city. Working for the benefit of Espoo and its residents is a meaningful job, and I am happy to take part in developing our city,” Tiia Mäkiranta says. 

Mäkiranta will report to Mayor Kai Mykkänen and serve as a member of the Executive Group of the City of Espoo. She will take office on 27 July 2026.

The position of the Director of Corporate Services was open for applications from April to May, and a total of 63 applications were submitted by the deadline.
