The City of Espoo is upgrading streets in low-rise residential areas through the Kotikadut kuntoon programme. We want to hear your views on the condition of the streets in your area and any related development needs.

The survey is open from 22 June to 20 July 2026. The survey is anonymous and takes about 3–5 minutes to complete. The survey is available in Finnish, Swedish and English. Take the survey here: Kotikadut kuntoon resident survey (Webropol)(external link, opens in a new window)

The City of Espoo has run the Kotikadut kuntoon programme since 1996 with the aim of upgrading the street network in planned, densifying low-rise residential areas to meet the requirements of the detailed plans.

Planned, densifying low-rise residential areas (so-called KTP areas) are residential areas that were built before the current detailed plans came into force. The programme typically covers streets built between the 1950s and 1980s, where municipal infrastructure construction has not been completed. The aim is to have all the streets completed by the 2040s.

Within the programme, the construction and renovation of streets are prioritised as larger entities based on several factors, such as the number of residents, the safety of school routes, resident feedback, and identified issues. The programme is prepared as an indicative construction schedule for a ten-year period and updated once during each council term, i.e. every four years.

The purpose of the survey is to collect residents’ observations about the condition of streets in their area and related development needs. The responses will be used as part of other planning material. You can give feedback on one area or street at a time. If necessary, you can complete the survey more than once.
