Local musicians at Meritori school
There will also be musical performances at the Meritori school, where Kivenlahti-resident Sami Åkerlund is involved in organising music by local musicians from 15:00 to 20:00. Performers will include Waking Iris, Sinize, Deaf Guys, Sanna Jäänvirta and Hot Sauce For Sick Puppies.
Åkerlund has long-time experience in events in the area, as the local has had time to participate in numerous concerts and events in the Espoonlahti area previously.
"Not everyone has a cottage, nor the desire, financial opportunity or traditions to go to the countryside for Midsummer. It’s cool that people also have the opportunity to celebrate the midsummer in nearby in their own neighbourhood, without it being a great financial burden,” Åkerlund sums up the good things about Kivenlahti Midsummer.
This year’s programme differs from previous Kivenlahti Midsummers in that there will be more events, local musicians will be showcased and events will take place in a wider area.
“Kivenlahti Rock ended 15 years ago, but many people are still proud to remember their participation as volunteers and the famous artists that were seen in Kivenlahti,” Åkerlund sums up.
Flower crafts, a relaxed beach atmosphere and a circus
Visitors to Kahvi-Kaisa can create art cards with the "midsummer flowers and images” collage technique using recycled materials at workshops . At the Hupsansaa ry flower workshop near the beach, visitors can crease small midsummer bouquets and floral clothing or hair accessories.
There will be several opportunities to dance at the Kivenlahti beach. The first Midsummer event will be the Skidit disco a beach party for families. Jorge Latinomix’s three dance lessons, on the other hand, will offer easy group dances that will inspire the audience to engage in physical activity and experience the rhythm of midsummer together.
The Käpy Company’s heartfelt Suurissa saappaissa performance for the entire family will include a versatile range of circus acts, such as tightrope walking, handstands, and aerial acrobatics at Marin hiekkakenttä field. The performance is non-verbal and is suitable for everyone regardless of their mother tongue. The performance will last approximately 30 minutes. After the performance, the audience will have the opportunity to meet the performers.
