Results of intensified supervision of roadwork sites in Espoo
The municipalities and police departments in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area carried out intensified supervision of roadwork sites in week 19. A total of 12 construction sites were inspected in Espoo. The inspections paid special attention to the safety of the roadwork sites and that they are in line with their permits.
A large number of shortcomings were identified in temporary traffic arrangements. For example, some permanent traffic signs had not been covered, even though the sites were under temporary arrangements. There were also issues with the placement of construction site fences, the fence types and reflectors.
The inspections also found some non-compliance with the permits, such as with dust binding, protection, accessibility, temporary coating materials, storage and installation depths.
They also revealed one completely unauthorised construction site and incorrect parking.

- Ratsukatu: 3 notices/corrective action requests
- Nuolihaukantie: a fine imposed by the police (12 day-fines), negligence fee and 5 notices/corrective action requests
- Turuntie-Karaniityntie-Lähderannantie: 3 notices/corrective action requests
- Maininkitie: negligence fee, 4 notices/corrective action requests and 2 notices for incorrect parking
- Linjaloistonkatu: negligence fee, 5 notices/corrective action requests and parking penalty fee,
- Hansatie: negligence fee and 23 notices/corrective action requests
- Asemakuja: Siltakatu-Kirkkojärventie: 17 notices/corrective action requests
- Savikuja: 2 negligence fees and 5 notices/corrective action requests
The supervision was carried out in cooperation with Espoo’s Land Use Management, Parking Control and Maintenance Services as well as City Transport and the Police.
