Vote for your favourite improvement idea at Kalajärvi Library!

The Kalajärvi Library will carry out an improvement requested by local residents.
Ideas for improving the library were collected from residents in February through the City Library’s participatory budgeting. The proposals emphasised strengthening a sense of community, events that increase people’s knowledge and skills, and taking into account families with children.
Based on the proposals, a working group consisting of library employees and local residents compiled three options that people can now vote for.
Voting is open from 6 April to 26 April 2026. The improvement idea that receives the most votes will be carried out at the Kalajärvi Library in 2026. You can vote for your favourite idea at the Kalajärvi Library and through an online form.

The options you can vote for are:
Children’s section in the library: The children’s section will be redesigned. The space will become a place where children and families can play and read. The space will have a nature theme. Craft kits will be purchased for customers to borrow.
Reorganisation of spaces: The library spaces will be reorganised to enable both quiet work and craft events, such as clothing repair and workshops. After the change, workshops will be held at the library.
Theme nights at the library: The library will host a theme night on a specific day of the week. At these events, participants can do crafts or get information on various topics. The event programme and guests will be planned so that they are suitable for people of all ages.
A budget of EUR 15,000 has been allocated for the improvement. The possibilities of carrying out the most popular ideas at other local libraries will also be investigated.
