Urhea activities in Espoo
We develop everyday life of young people engaging in sports in a goal-oriented manner in Espoo by combining diverse high-quality training, rest, studies and other things that are part of a young person’s life. Our goal is to find the best way to operate in Espoo. We have sent invitations to the upcoming meetings to the clubs involved in the activities. Urhea's activities in lower secondary schools
The City of Espoo Sports and Exercise Unit holds a joint meeting for clubs involved in Urhea’s activities for lower secondary schools. The meeting will take place from 14:30 to 16:00 on Wednesday 29 April 2026 (meeting room Karamzin, Karaportti 1, Espoo). We hope that each club involved in the activities will send one participant.

The aim of Urhea's activities in lower secondary schools is to enable, through collaboration, a good and high-quality everyday life for young people with a passion for sports. The activities in lower secondary schools include learning contents about growing into an athlete (Kasva Urheilijaksi) as well as performance training and sport-specific training in connection with the school day on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.
In the event, Urhea will be represented by Venla Pellikka, who is responsible for the activities in lower secondary schools, Espoo by Jussi Miettinen, who is a coordinator/teacher developing Urhea, and Project Coordinator Anastasia Kolomainen, and the Sports and Exercise Services will be represented by Maria Laakso, who is responsible for Urhea, and Sports Planner Helena Pennanen.

Urhea’s activities in upper secondary education

The aim of Urhea's activities in upper secondary education is to enable athletes to grow into top-level athletes. Our goal is to work together to provide the athletes with the best possible daily coaching and create the preconditions for developing as an athlete and for combining sports and studies.
The topics of the discussion are the organisation of practising opportunities for Urhea athletes studying at Espoo’s educational institutions in upper secondary education (Leppävaara, Mattliden, Haukilahti and Omnia) and supporting the clubs participating in the activities.
The City of Espoo is working on a new reform of grants for 2027, and the meeting is part of this process.
