Seeck has risen to become one of Finland’s most internationally successful authors, and his work combines creative entrepreneurship with global business in an exceptional way. Founded in 2013, Blindhound Productions Oy operates in the field of artistic creation. The company’s revenue in 2025 was €275,000. Seeck’s books have sold approximately 1.2 million copies and have been translated into 40 languages worldwide. Globally, his works have generated over €10 million.

Although the company is a one-person business, Seeck highlights the importance of collaboration in his success: “I am the company’s only employee, but I work closely with my publisher Tammi and my agency Ahlback Agency. Both have believed in me from the very beginning and have played a key role in my success.”

Grounds for the award

The Federation of Espoo Enterprises justifies its selection from the perspectives of entrepreneurship, growth and international success.

Max Seeck has already built a long career as an entrepreneur and has systematically developed a growing and profitable business in the demanding environment of the creative industries. His company’s financial position is strong, and the business continues to evolve. Blindhound Productions owns the copyrights to the books, generating long-term cash flow through royalties as well as translation and film rights.

Seeck is one of the most well-known authors in the Nordic countries. To date, he has published nine works, with a tenth to be released in June, and his books have sold over one million copies worldwide. His works have been translated into more than 40 languages—more than any other Finnish author in this decade.

The award also carries a broader message: it recognises the entire creative and cultural sector as a significant, growing and internationally impactful part of Finnish entrepreneurship.

A writing career built on determination

Max Seeck’s career as an author began with a dream of making a living through writing, combined with determined effort: “In 2013, I wrote on weekends and in the evenings alongside my day job, aiming to secure my first publishing contract.”

His debut thriller Hammurabi’s Angels was published by Tammi in early autumn 2016.

Ideas for his books stem from everyday life and observation—lived experiences, conversations, time in nature, and travel. For Seeck, writing is disciplined work, with a typical workday running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the office.

People and stories behind the success

Seeck summarises his success to date as follows: “Great stories—books need to resonate with readers in order to sell—and strong teamwork, with partners supporting success.”

Looking ahead, his goal is to continue producing high-quality books and to return to film projects. Despite major changes in the publishing industry, he remains optimistic: “Bright. Everything changes, but nothing disappears.”

A significant recognition for entrepreneurship in Espoo

The Espoo Entrepreneur of the Year award is granted annually to an entrepreneur who has demonstrated exceptional expertise, growth and impact in their field. Max Seeck’s story is an example of bold entrepreneurship, long-term dedication, and the international breakthrough of Finnish creative talent.
