Leppävaara outdoor and indoor swimming pools to close at the beginning of August
The Leppävaara outdoor swimming pool (at Veräjäpellonkatu 15) will be opened for the new summer season on Saturday 9 May 2026. Weather permitting, the aim is to open the outdoor swimming pool even earlier. The exact date will be announced later. The outdoor swimming season will end on Monday 3 August 2026. Significant repairs and changes to the water treatment system as well as repairs to the tiling of the pools will be carried out in the Leppävaara swimming complex.
The aim of the repairs is to ensure that the outdoor swimming pool will be in good condition and also functional for the summer season 2027. The reason for the earlier closure is the necessary repairs to the tiling of the outdoor pools, which must be started before the outside temperature falls below zero.
“The swimming pools in Espoo are in heavy use and we want to invest in their maintenance and service. The repairs will affect the use of the entire Leppävaara swimming complex, including the outdoor swimming pool. We understand the inconvenience that closing the outdoor swimming pool at the beginning of August will cause to users. However, we are hoping for good swimming weather from May to July,” says Maija Lehtinen, Managing Director of the Premises Department.
Repairs to the Leppävaara swimming complex
In addition to the outdoor swimming pool, the Leppävaara indoor swimming pool will close on 3 August 2026 for repairs to continue its life cycle. Repairs will be made to the circulation of water, for example, and the balancing tanks will get a new coating. The repairs to the swimming complex have been timed so that the indoor swimming pool can be opened again in the autumn, when activities such as the swimming lessons of comprehensive schools begin. After the repairs, the indoor swimming pool will open its doors for swimmers again in October 2026. The City of Espoo will announce the exact opening date for the indoor swimming pool later.
