Take our survey and have your say on Espoo’s future

Espoo’s strong growth has increased the need for services and the pressure for investments in the city sectors, which has accelerated the growth of the city’s expenditure. We will need a range of adjustment measures in the coming years to bring the development of the city’s finances to a sustainable level.
At its meeting on 9 February, the City Board decided on the launching of budget balancing work for 2027–2029 as part of the 2027 budget process. We want to ensure that we achieve the financial targets set in the Espoo Story.
The annual adjustment target for 2027–2029 is EUR 70 million. During the preparation phase, we will also take into account any measures that can be taken in 2026.
Tell us what the city should do to balance its budget
Espoo residents can now have their say on the measures we should take to balance the city’s budget. We ask residents to make suggestions for organising the city’s operations and services so that we can achieve our goals for this council term. Take our brief survey below and tell us how the city could save money or generate more revenue. Or how could the city develop its operations or provide its services in a more cost-effective way?
The responses will be used in the planning of the budget balancing programme. The City Council Advisory Committee, which is comprised of political decision-makers, will discuss the content of the programme in April. In June, the City Council will decide on the budgetary framework and balancing measures for 2027–2029 and tax rates for 2027.
