Nature excursions for child groups in May 2026 - booking calendar will open on 18 March

A guide will lead child groups on a nature excursion to Villa Elfvik’s nearby nature Mon–Fri in May 2026. The free trips are designed for children aged between 5 and 10. The trip can be booked starting at 9:00 am on Wednesday 18 March 2026, on the electronic booking calendar.

Nature excursions are suitable for day care, pre-school and after-school groups, as well as for grades 1-4 of comprehensive school. On the excursions, the smallest children get to explore spring nature through stories and play, while the older children explore bugs in the forest and meadows.

You can book one trip per group. The recommended group size is 15 children. You can book a morning or afternoon trip for the excursion days. The duration of the excursions is 2 hours, including a snack break.

Excursion options

Forest Spirit’s Story Adventure, Metsänhaltian tarinakätkö (for 5–7-year-olds)
In this magical springtime adventure, we visit an old forest and explore its many inhabitants through the stories of the forest spirit. We also talk about the importance of forests for us humans.

Call of Spring Kevään kutsu(for 5–9-year-olds)
We explore the signs and significance of spring in nature. We use all our senses to experience the wonders of springtime nature, followed by a stroll through the reeds.

From Brimstone Butterflies to Ground Beetles, Sitruunaperhosesta sysikiitäjäiseen (for 3rd–4th-graders)
An exploration into the wonderful world of bugs. We get to know a variety of tiny creatures through hands-on observation.

Excursion booking

The trips can be booked starting at 9:00 am on Wednesday 18 March 2026, on the electronic booking calendar(external link, opens in a new window) (in Finnish).

First select the day and available time; 9:00 or 12:00. When the excursion is booked, it will no longer appear in the calendar.
Then fill in the requested information.
As we want to offer all children the best possible nature experience, please let us know if the group has special needs. We aim to consider them in the planning of the excursion.
If you would like to bring your group on a morning trip but it is difficult to get there at 9 am due to transport connections, please explain this in the additional information section. An afternoon trip can also start later than at 12 noon, e.g. 1 pm. Please indicate your preference for the start time in the additional information.

Nature excursions for groups of children are part of the Nature-wise Espoo activities, which aim to take care of Espoo’s nature while the city is growing. Taking care of nature is a shared task of the entire Espoo community. Nature excursions strengthen children’s relationship with nature and teach them skills in responsible outdoor activities.
