The 2026 operation plan for the investments in municipal engineering in Espoo has been completed. More details in the Power BI report.

The Technical Services Committee approved the 2026 operation plan for the investments in municipal engineering in 10 December 2026. The plan will guide Espoo’s approximately EUR 160 million investments in municipal engineering in the coming year. The projects aim to improve the functionality, safety and comfort of the city and to support controlled growth.

In 2026, the Public Works Department will focus on, among other things, the following:

  • Building and repairing streets, bicycle roads and pedestrian routes to improve traffic flow and safety.
  • Developing public transport routes and stops, and the construction of the Espoo Rail Line.
  • Building and renovating parks, playgrounds and outdoor trails to make residential areas more comfortable.
  • Modernising streets, bridges and parks to keep infrastructure safe and functional.
  • Improving stormwater systems and flood protection structures to ensure safe and environmentally friendly water management.
  • Developing entire districts or new residential areas by building streets, parks and other municipal infrastructure.

The Public Works Department has produced an interactive Power BI report that allows residents and other interested parties to examine the operation plan for the investments in municipal engineering in 2026. By clicking on the various filters available in the report, you can view the data organised by region and function. This will make it easy to get an overview of what Espoo will build and develop next year.

According to the Espoo Story, Espoo is the capital of children and young people. The report contains a Children and Youth filter, which you can use to browse projects that promote the comfort, safety and well-being of children and young people in particular.
