The implementation of the pilot project for access control for the changing rooms at the winter swimming spot will begin in Westend during 1 January and 31 May 2026.

The lock and access control system for the changing room for winter swimmers at Westend will be changed. To access the changing room, users will be using the familiar wristband from Espoo swimming pools. The wristbands can be picked up at the City of Espoo’s swimming pools. A free winter swimming pass will be loaded onto the wristband. The price of the wristband is 10 euros. There is no need to purchase a separate wristband if you already own a swimming pool wristband.

The changing room is opened with the wristband on which the winter swimming product is loaded. The door lock works between 05:00 and 24:00. During the transition period, the door lock to the changing room at the Westend winter swimming area works with the door code that was previously used. The door lock to the changing room only works with the wristband from 19 January 2026 onwards.

The winter swimming product is free of charge during the pilot project.

During the pilot, the changing rooms at the other winter swimming spots in Espoo can still be used with the free of charge door code obtained by calling Espoo Info, tel. +358 9 81621, open weekdays 8:30 - 16:00.

The use of the door code has generally worked well, but in recent years, vandalism and misuse of the changing rooms have increased. By switching to a controlled lock and access control system, customer safety will be improved.

The aim is to introduce the access control system at all winter swimming spots by 1 September 2026.
