KAMU Espoo City Museum’s new Research policy has been published

The key concepts of KAMU Espoo City Museum’s research vision are inclusivity and interaction. The goal is to highlight the diversity of research across all museum activities – in cultural environment conservation, exhibitions, collection work, and audience engagement.
KAMU’s research mission is to produce and share new knowledge about Espoo and Espoo identity, and to increase awareness of Espoo’s cultural heritage in an interactive and multi-voiced manner together with the city’s residents and partners.
The research policy has been created to support the museum staff and to inspire different audiences to take part in the museum’s research activities, data collection, and knowledge production. The policy especially encourages research partnerships and co-research. The aim is to bring new perspectives and experiential experts into the museum’s research processes.
Together as a staff, we have outlined the research themes for the coming years. We update the policy annually, and it will continue to guide the selection of perspectives and research questions.
KAMU’s research policy has also been shaped in dialogue with other museums and sectoral actors. Museum research is a current topic that has been discussed at Museum Days, seminars, and Science Forum. KAMU’s policy supports the research role of museums and strengthens their position as socially significant and reliable producers of knowledge.
