Propose a nominee for the Hurraa! construction award

The Hurraa! award is the City of Espoo’s way of recognising particularly commendable and successful projects related to the built environment. The award is now presented for the twelfth time, and it is granted by Espoo’s Environment and Building Control Committee together with Espoo’s Building Control Unit. Submit your proposal no later than 28 November 2025!

The Hurraa! award is granted to a project that meets or advances the goals of Espoo’s Building Control Unit in an exemplary way. In addition, an honourable mention will be awarded.

The award and honourable mention may be granted to one or more projects related to Espoo’s built environment that were completed or gained recognition over the past year. These include:

  • new construction projects
  • renovation projects
  • area developments
  • public outdoor spaces
  • blue-green infrastructure projects or environmental initiatives
  • technical development work, or
  • work contributions by individuals or organisations.

Submit your proposal via email by 28 November 2025

Can you think of a project completed or carried out in the past year that deserves recognition? Submit your proposal with supporting arguments to rava.kirjaamo@espoo.fi no later than 28 November 2025. You can also include a photo of the proposed project.

Espoo’s cityscape architect will shortlist the nominations, and the selected nominees will be presented to Espoo’s Environment and Building Control Committee. The committee will select the winner in spring 2026.

The Hurraa! award has been presented since 2014. In recent years, the award has been given to, among others, Tiistilä day care centre and school building and its yard, the Metsola day care centre, and the Kirstinmäki residential block. Honourable mentions have been awarded to projects such as the assisted living facility Rinnekodit Kielomäki in Lakisto and the artistic enhancement of the buildings at the Matinkylä beach.
