Olari Winter Garden and Youth Facility repairs complete
The repair work of Olari Winter Garden (address Yläportti 4) and the connected youth facility has been completed. Repair work began at the beginning of April 2025, and was completed at the end of September. The aim of the repairs was to restore the original 1970s atmosphere and appearance of the facilities, designed by architects Vesa Huolman and Eero Valjakka.
During the repairs, the roof and skylight windows of the winter garden were replaced, and the guardrails of the concrete ramp inside were rebuilt using glass rails. Some of the steel pillars of the exterior walls were also replaced and the electrical systems of the facilities were updated. In addition, all outdoor and indoor lights and escape lighting were repaired and replaced. The wall surfaces were restored to their original colours by removing the pastel tones used in later renovations. The graffiti marked for preservation were also left as is.
BD Concept Oy acted as the contractor for the repair work, and Luutonen Palomeras Arkkitehdit was responsible for the architectural design. The price of the repairs is approximately EUR 400,000.
