The city bike season ends on 31 October. During the 10th city bike season in Helsinki and Espoo, users made approximately 2.5 million journeys, and the number of users increased compared to the previous year. Interest in daily and weekly passes was record high, with more purchases than ever before.

The past city bike season included plenty of kilometers and satisfied customers.

“City bikes are an interesting and vital part of how both residents and visitors move around in Helsinki and Espoo. During the past season, the number of city bike users was once again high. For instance, in Helsinki and Espoo, more daily and weekly passes were purchased than ever before. This is certainly fantastic news, especially considering that Helsinki and Espoo celebrated their 10th season of city bikes this year,” says Samuli Mäkinen, sustainable mobility expert at HSL.

Satisfied users

City bike users in Helsinki and Espoo were once again highly satisfied with the service. This year, the overall rating for the service was 3.8 (on a scale of 1 to 5), a figure that has remained nearly unchanged since 2019. The city bike users were most satisfied with the clarity and fairness of user fees, ease of registration, purchase of passes, and clear instructions.

The Net Promoter Score (NPS) rose to 50, which is an increase of three points from 2024. Those who used city bikes more than once a day were most willing to recommend the service to others. A total of 4,276 city bike users took the survey in Helsinki and Espoo.

The new season starts again in spring 2026

The city bike season ends in Helsinki and Espoo Friday, 31 October. Once the season is over, the bikes in Helsinki and Espoo will be collected, serviced, and stored for next season. The next city bike season will begin in spring 2026, as usual. Auto-renewing subscriptions will become available for purchase again in spring 2026.

The new regional city bike system was due to be launched in 2026. However, the launch will be delayed. More information about the new service will be made available later.
