Water – the elixir of life and Espoo

The City of Espoo currently has several water-related procurement opportunities ongoing or about to start.

Autumn is always a busy season for maintenance work, and the City of Espoo is no exception. Leaves are raked, facilities are prepared for winter, and water construction projects for spring are planned. Wait, what? In Espoo, water construction covers, for example, the installation, maintenance and repair of piers, dredging, various underwater works, as well as towing and transport services for machinery and construction materials – even to the city’s outer islands.

Water is also connected to archaeological research, which includes underwater archaeology: studying wrecks, channel obstructions and other submerged sites and structures using archaeological methods. These studies cover prehistoric, medieval and more recent eras. Espoo may not (yet) rival Egypt as an archaeologist’s paradise – but who knows what could be discovered!

And yes, water is also behind window cleaning and other cleaning services! Windows are washed in city facilities such as schools, daycare centres, sports venues and cultural buildings. Not to mention swimming instruction and supervision, as well as virtual aquatic exercise services – all clearly water-related.

Water also makes your morning coffee – and why not brew it while joining the Hankinta-Suomi morning coffee sessions in October. Hankinta-Suomi offers a training series(external link, opens in a new window) (in Finnish) for new suppliers or those with little experience in public procurement, and another series (in Finnish) for more experienced suppliers(external link, opens in a new window). This is an easy opportunity to learn more about public procurement.

You can also find the most important highlights of Espoo’s upcoming procurements in the city’s procurement calendar, published online and updated four times a year. Link to the procurement calendar. More detailed information about ongoing procurements and market dialogue invitations can be found in the Hilma service(external link, opens in a new window). In Hilma, you can even set up your own search alerts, for example based on the procurement classification (CPV code(external link, opens in a new window)).
