Builders of a sustainable future

The Sustainable Future Builders competition for Espoo schoolchildren is currently underway in Minecraft. A record number of children and young people have enthusiastically joined in this autumn to design a better future for Espoo. Registration is still open until the end of September and there is time to build until the end of October.

"There is still plenty of time for new builders of a sustainable future to enter the competition. It is really great that so many schools are already participating in this competition. The competition is a good opportunity to learn digital skills, promote sustainability education and collaboration in schools. We are looking forward to see all the great implementations of a sustainable Espoo of the future," says pedagogical expert Ilona Parviainen.

A teacher or instructor can register their group for the competition, or the child's guardian can also register. A guardian can also register a group for the competition if friends want to participate with a joint construction project. Registration is open until 30 September at https://link.webropolsurveys.com/ep/espoo-minecraft-kilpailu-2025(external link, opens in a new window) (link opens in a new window). Completed competition entries must be returned no later than 31 October at 4 pm on a common return form. The assessment will be carried out by an independent party.

The winning entries will be featured across Espoo’s various communication channels, and all participants will receive certificates. At the end of November, winners from all categories will be invited to a spectacular awards gala at Kino Tapiola, where students’ works and ideas will be showcased on the big screen. Joining the celebration to congratulate the winners and get inspired by the pupils’ ideas will be Espoo’s Mayor, Kai Mykkänen, and Merja Narvo-Akkola, Deputy Mayor for Growth and Learning. The gala will culminate in a private screening of A Minecraft Movie.

Welcome to join us in building a sustainable future for Espoo in Minecraft!
