Espoo Day invites everyone to celebrate together on the last weekend of August
Espoo’s summer of events culminates in the citywide celebration – Espoo Day. In 2025, Espoo Day will be celebrated over two days: the festivities begin on Friday 29 August, with even more events taking place on Saturday 30 August. Everyone in Espoo can join Espoo Day festivities by organising free events across the city.
The celebration is open and free-of-charge to all and has been created through collective efforts by residents, communities, companies and various city units. Espoo Day was officially celebrated for the first time in 1992, the year that marked Espoo’s 20th anniversary as a city.
Espoo Day’s programme consists of over 150 events created by more than 100 organisers. This year’s theme is “Responsibly Together”, which encourages us to be mindful of both the environment and the people around us. Espoo Day offers a great opportunity to explore events created collaboratively by residents across Espoo.
Puutarhafest(external link, opens in a new window) held in Vanttila, in the area of Espoo City Garden, invites the whole family to an outdoor celebration of nature, music and community. Visitors can spend a summer day in a lush park enjoying live music, participating in workshops, and listening to thought-provoking talks.
This year, the Greater Leppävaara area will also host numerous events. Leppävaara comes alive with its traditional street festival Raittikarnevaalit(external link, opens in a new window). In the evening, the summer season at the Viaporintori terrace in Sello will culminate in a concert by Samuli Putro(external link, opens in a new window).
