Foundation stone laid for the first homes in Keilaniemi

Keilaniemi is known as a workplace district, but now its first residential building is under construction. In March 2025, YIT began construction on the Asunto Oy Espoon Seaside apartment building, which has now reached the foundation stone phase.
Today, on June 9, 2025, this milestone was celebrated with the construction site's foundation stone laying ceremony attended by the Mayor of Espoo Kai Mykkänen and YIT's President and CEO Heikki Vuorenmaa, among other guests.
As part of such ceremonies, a cylinder containing documents, so-called time capsule, is embedded in the concrete. The Seaside time capsule included a charter, a copy of the Länsiväylä newspaper, site drawings, a brochure, the Espoo Story strategy booklet, and coins currently in use in Finland.
“Keilaniemi is known for its corporate headquarters and numerous smaller companies. Now the area will become more diverse and lively, as it will also contain residential properties,” says Kai Mykkänen, the Mayor of Espoo.
“Keilaniemi's attractiveness is attested to by the fact that despite the current downturn in construction, things are still happening in the area. In addition, a large number of projects are under planning. The location of Keilaniemi along excellent transport connections, by the sea and near Otaniemi and its Aalto University and VTT Technical Research Centre makes it attractive for many companies,” Mykkänen adds.
The first residents will move in at the end of 2026
“The first residents of Keilaniemi will be able to move into their new homes at the end of 2026. The 15-story residential building will house 83 homes, which have attracted a lot of interest already in the advance marketing phase and some of the homes have already been sold,” says YIT's President and CEO Heikki Vuorenmaa.
In Keilaniemi, residents can enjoy living in a high-quality home by the sea, next to Espoo’s coastal cycling and hiking route and good transportation connections. Asunto Oy Espoon Seaside's new high-quality homes will rise amid Keilaniemi's modern office buildings. There are future plans for a seawater pool, waterfront saunas and a stop for scheduled ferries to the archipelago in the area.
The apartments in Espoo Seaside will have floor areas of 48–118.5 square meters. The residents will have access to shared workspaces, a lounge and a sauna department with terraces, which afford views of the sea and the seaside promenade. Some of the apartments will have unobstructed views over the sea and the first-floor homes will have large yards facing the sea.
Keilaniemi is served by good transportation connections; the metro is a few minutes’ walk away and shopping center Ainoa’s services are a few minutes’ metro ride away. The terminal of the light rail line 15 is located about 300 meters away.
