Changes to the fees for vehicle transfer from 1 August 2025

In its meeting on 18 June 2025, the Technical Services Committee decided to change the fees for vehicle transfers. The committee also decided that the amount of transfer costs of micromobility devices, such as electric scooters, will be the same as the general parking penalty fee in the municipality, which is currently 60 euros.

Based on a decision made by the committee, changes to the fees charged for vehicle transfers will enter into force on 1 August 2025. The city will no longer charge assessment and announcement costs, as they will be replaced with a management fee of 100 euros, excluding VAT. At the same time, the weekly fee charged for storing the vehicle will increase from the current 24 euros to 100 euros for the starting week, which will make the fee more in line with the practices of other municipalities in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.

Under the law, which was enacted in June, micromobility rental services will be subject to a permit, and the municipality’s Parking Control and Road Maintenance may immediately transfer incorrectly parked vehicles. Micromobility refers to mobility by bicycle, light electric vehicle or motorised bicycle, and the act is expected to promote the safety of electric scooters.

As of 1 August 2025, the fees for transferring electric bicycles and light electric vehicles in Espoo will also be charged without VAT. The fee corresponds to the general parking penalty fee in the municipality, which is currently 60 euros. In case of local transfers of other vehicles and all storage transfers, the transfer fees will still be based on the invoice the private service provider sends to the city, including VAT.
