History and Stories Through Puppet Theatre in Espoo for 50 Years

Espoo's first professional theatre, Theatre Hevosenkenkä, has been spreading joy and magical tales to both children and adults for 50 years. On the other hand, Glims Farmstead Museum of KAMU is the first museum in Finland where history has been narrated and brought to life through puppet theatre.
The exhibition "Fantasy and Fact – Teater Hevosenkenkä 50 Years," opening at Glims Farmstead Museum, takes visitors to a fairytale world where they can experience adventures with Theatre Hevosenkenkä’s and Glims’ storybook characters both on stage and behind the scenes. The exhibition offers an immersive museum experience for all language groups.
At the exhibition, visitors can explore the performance "Beauty and the Beast," which premiered in 2018 and whose magical scenography has been brought to the museum. There are also puppets from Teater Hevosenkenkä’s first play, "The Bear That Wasn't," as well as the characters Magpie and Cockroach from Glims' own puppet theatre.
Many of the stories teach friendship and acceptance of differences. Espoo’s puppet theatre history is also highlighted through video interviews.
The exhibition "Fantasy and Fact" opens to the public on April 2 and will remain open until March 1, 2026.
