Construction company SRV is applying for an extension to its reservation for the planning of the Kivenlahti business centre project. The application has been updated due to the market situation and the University of Applied Sciences Laurea deciding to withdraw from the project. The Business and Competitiveness Subcommittee of the City Board will discuss the continuation of the reservation in its meeting on 7 April.

At the other end of the empty plot will be built the Kivenlahti business centre, which will also house one of the two entrances to the metro station. The total permitted building volume of the business centre located along Höyrylaivantie is 13,350 square metres, and the premises will include a grocery store and commercial premises. The western entrance to the Kivenlahti metro station will be connected to the business centre. The entrance currently in use is located at the corner of the Kivenlahdentori square at Meriusva 7.

A permit to amend the valid building permit has been applied for on the basis of the changed market situation. In the updated concept, the metro centre has been structurally detached from two residential block of flats, which would allow for starting the project separately from the housing projects. The concept is currently being developed further so that the business centre would best serve the residents and operators of the area, and the project could be launched as soon as possible.

Laurea University of Applied Sciences was to be located on the second floor of the business centre, but it withdrew from the project at the beginning of this year.

SRV has started searching for a new user. At the same time, the option where the project would be implemented in phases is also being explored. Phasing could enable a quick launch for the project and facilitate other projects in the area, such as the opening of the underpass under Länsiväylä and the commissioning of the second entrance to the metro.

Espoo proposes extending the reservation for SRV until the end of the current year.
