The renovation of the Espoonlahti Health Centre has been completed – the goal is to start operations before the summer
The renovation of the Espoonlahti Health Centre has been completed. In the renovation that began in 2023, the health centre was completely reformed to meet the needs of modern health care. The goal is to start operating the health center before the summer. Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County will provide more detailed information about the start of operations during the spring.
During the project, the interior and outdoor areas of the building were fully renovated. The existing façades were cleaned, and the windows were replaced or refurbished to improve energy efficiency. The energy efficiency of the renovated property was also increased with roof-mounted solar panels and ground source heat networks.
The ventilation machine room on the third floor was expanded to meet the current ventilation requirements, and its new façades were covered with a uniform façade cladding. Outdoor canopies were also built at the ambulance entrance and the entrances for imaging and sampling to protect the facility users from the weather.
The yard area was renovated in accordance with the new yard plan, to make the area more inviting. In the renovation, the health centre also got a new café-restaurant with a terrace area. The café will also serve customers outside the opening hours of the health centre.
“It is great that the renovation option was realised for the Espoonlahti Health Centre, as it contributes to reaching the city’s carbon neutrality targets. Renovation is a way to avoid future emissions and thus reduce the carbon footprint. Espoo’s carbon neutrality targets are also supported by the energy saving choices that were made for the property, from geothermal heat to solar panels,” says Maija Lehtinen, Managing Director of Tilapalvelut-liikelaitos.
“The project combined good planning and professional and accurate implementation of plans. We are pleased that together with Espoo, we were able to create healthy and safe facilities for the customers of the Espoonlahti Health Centre,” says Reima Liikamaa, Renovation Director at Jatke Toimitilat Oy.
The renovation was planned by Architect Group Reino Koivula Oy, and the contractor was Jatke Toimitilat Oy. The total cost of the project is approximately EUR 15 million.
