Danish royal couple visited Espoo

Denmark's King Frederik X and Queen Mary visited Espoo today as part of their official state visit to Finland on March 4–5, 2025.
In Espoo, the royal couple visited the Espoo Museum of Modern Art EMMA, Arkki – School of Architecture for Children and Youth, and Aalto University.
At EMMA, the King and Queen arrived together with the hosts of the state visit, President Alexander Stubb and his spouse, Suzanne Innes-Stubb. During the event, EMMA unveiled a new collection piece by Danish artist Poul Gernes (1925–1996).
At Aalto University, the royal and Presidential couple were introduced to quantum and satellite technology and the Aalto Ice and Wave Tank. Aalto University and Niels Bohr Institute signed a letter of intent to intensify their mutual research cooperation.
This was the first state visit hosted by President Stubb.
There has not been an official state visit between Denmark and Finland for 12 years. The last state visit took place in April 2013, when former President Sauli Niinistö and his spouse, Jenni Haukio, visited Denmark.
