City bike season starts in Espoo and Helsinki

One of the sure signs of spring is the appearance of city bikes on the streets. In Espoo and Helsinki, the city bike season starts on 1 April.
Enjoy a longer ride time again
Last year, the maximum ride time was extended to 60 minutes in Helsinki and Espoo. Due to the positive feedback, the same extended ride time applies this year.
All city bike passes include an unlimited number of 60-minute rides during their period of validity. If you use a bike for more than 60 minutes at a time in Espoo or Helsinki, an additional fee of EUR 1.00 will be charged for every 30 minutes. The maximum time of use is five hours. After five hours, a late fee of EUR 80 will be charged in addition to the extra charges.

All city bike stations and routes in Journey Planner
The city bike network comprises nearly 4,600 bikes in Helsinki and Espoo. There are 347 bike stations in Helsinki and 109 in Espoo. Please note that, due to weather conditions, they may not all be available on 1 April, but they will become available as soon as possible.
This year, some city bike stations are unfortunately located within construction sites, but they will be replaced by new locations.
You can find all available stations in the HSL Journey Planner(external link, opens in a new window). If you enable location services on your device, the Journey Planner will show the nearest city bike stations, the number of bikes available, and routes. Also make sure that you have selected city bikes in your settings. In addition to the HSL website, you can find the Journey Planner on the HSL app.
Ten years of city bikes
This year, the city bike system is celebrating an anniversary, as this is the tenth year that city bikes are seen on the streets of Helsinki. In Espoo, city bike stations were first piloted a year later, eight years ago, and the system was introduced on a wider scale the following year.
