The advance voting period in the county and municipal elections is 2–8 April 2025 in Finland and 2–5 April 2025 abroad
All eligible voters can vote either in advance or on election day. You can vote in advance at any of the general advance polling stations. On the official election day, you can only vote at the polling station indicated in the notice of right to vote (polling card)(external link, opens in a new window) sent to you by post or through the Suomi.fi online service.
You must show proof of identity when voting. If you do not have an ID, you can obtain a temporary identity card for voting purposes from the police. No fee is charged for a temporary identity card in this case.
You can vote in both elections in advance at the same time.
The ballot papers for the two elections are of different colours. For the county elections, the ballot paper and candidate list are purple. For the municipal elections, the ballot paper and candidate list are white.
Advance voting and election day
The official election day is Sunday 13 April 2025. The advance voting period is 2–8 April 2025.
