Learning support in pre-primary and basic education has been reformed, and the changes will take effect on 1 August 2025. The aim of the reform is to strengthen early support and provide flexible and equitable support measures for pupils.

As part of this change, the current three-tiered learning support model (general, intensified and special support) will be discontinued.

This is why we will also update Espoo’s curriculum for pre-primary education and basic education.

We would now like to hear guardians’ views so that we can take them into account in the preparation process. You can share your thoughts and wishes regarding pre-primary and basic education through our online survey.

The survey is intended for guardians of five-year-olds, pre-primary pupils and primary and lower secondary school pupils, and for other city residents.

The survey includes questions for children as well. We would appreciate it if you could answer them together with your child who is participating in early childhood education or pre-primary education.

You can take the survey here.(external link, opens in a new window) The survey is open until 9 March 2025.

Thank you in advance for your responses!
