Skiers, be careful at crossroads of ski tracks and pedestrian routes
The maintenance practices at crossroads of ski tracks and pedestrian routes are changing. In future, snow will be cleared from the crossings points and the parts of the tracks that cross a pavement will be gritted. We therefore urge skiers to be careful so that the missing track at the crossing points and the gritted areas will not come as a surprise and cause dangerous situations.
We will add signs to dangerous locations to warn skiers about the hazards at crossing points. However, as this will take time, we urge skiers to actively observe crossing points and anticipate unsafe locations. We apologise the inconvenience caused by these gaps in ski tracks!
The reason for the change is specified street maintenance practices
The city is responsible for maintaining the routes designated for walking and cycling in its area so that they can be used safely all year round. The maintenance and upkeep of pedestrian ways are obligations defined in the tasks of municipalities, which is why gritting and clearing snow are primary winter maintenance measures at points where pedestrian ways cross ski tracks.
