Hatsinanpuisto in Leppävaara nominated for Environmental Structure of the Year award

Hatsinanpuisto park in Leppävaara is one of the five finalists in the Environmental Structure of the Year 2024 competition. A record number of entries were submitted to the competition this year. The other finalists are the summer park in Töölönlahti (Helsinki), Saukonpaadenpuisto in Jätkäsaari (Helsinki), Pielespuisto in Kangasvuori (Jyväskylä) and Jokikeskus (Pori).
The competition jury describes Hatsinanpuisto as a new, diverse urban park that integrates nature into the urban environment and is open to all. The design takes into account the Vermonoja stream, which flows through the area. Visitors can enjoy an ever-changing landscape shaped by seasonal cycles and fluctuating water levels.
Aiming for a sustainable and high-quality environment
The aim of the competition is to promote and recognise high-quality environmental structures that are aesthetically and functionally sustainable and enjoyable. In addition, the project must have been completed within the past five years.
The Environmental Structure of the Year award is granted by Betoniteollisuus ry, Kivi ry and Viherympäristöliitto ry to acknowledge outstanding design and implementation of the built environment.
The winner will be announced on 5 February at the gala event of the Green Days 2025 Congress and Expo held in Jyväskylä.
